The teacher behind Good Day English
A friendly, experienced teacher helping children feel at home with
words, stories and ideas.

HELLO, I'M LIZ
I’m Liz, a former Primary Teacher and English Lead with 13 years’ experience.
I help children become more confident, independent readers, writers and spellers through clear, friendly, teacher-led lessons.
Every session makes space for careful explanation, meaningful practice and the confidence to have a go.
AT A GLANCE
MY STORY

Before starting Good Day English, I spent 13 years working as a primary school teacher, teaching children across the primary age range and helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
During my teaching career, I held a number of leadership roles, including Reading and Writing Lead, and worked extensively with the primary English curriculum. I’ve taught and supported children with a wide range of abilities and learning needs, as well as mentoring other teachers and completing my National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL).
After leaving the classroom, I began tutoring children individually and in small groups. I loved being able to give children that extra support, but I also saw just how expensive traditional private tuition can become for families. That’s why I created Good Day English.
I wanted to combine the quality of teaching you’d expect from an experienced primary teacher with the flexibility of learning from home. My online sessions are carefully planned, engaging and easy to follow, with children actively joining in as we work through skills together — rather than simply watching a screen.
Good Day English focuses on the areas I know and love best: reading, writing, spelling, grammar and vocabulary, with teaching aligned to the English primary curriculum.
Most importantly, I want children to feel comfortable having a go. Learning doesn’t need to feel intimidating or overly formal. My aim is for children to finish a session thinking “I can do this!” — while parents know they're receiving high-quality teaching from someone who genuinely understands how children learn.
WHY GOOD DAY ENGLISH
Many children need more practice than a busy school day has time to give. When English gets tricky, that lack of time can make confidence slip.
Good Day English creates dedicated space to revisit a skill, ask questions and keep going at a comfortable pace.
The aim is simple: help each child meet English with greater confidence and independence.

MY TEACHING APPROACH
Lessons bring strong teaching and a warm atmosphere together, so children know what to do and feel able to try.

Clear, step-by-step teaching helps children understand the skill and see how each part fits together.

A positive space gives children permission to think aloud, make mistakes and have another go.

Games and activities can connect learning to children’s interests, keeping practice lively and purposeful.
WHAT A LESSON FEELS LIKE
A calm rhythm helps children know where they are, what comes next and when it is their turn to try.

We begin by settling in and revisiting previous learning.

A new idea is introduced clearly, one manageable step at a time.

Liz and the child work through examples side by side.

The child tries independently, with encouragement close at hand.
